Longest sparks yet

It was a cold, dry and windless evening, the perfect conditions for letting off some electric discharges. I set my equipment up on the lawn, using an aluminium rod poked into the earth as my ground. I drew sparks between a wrench placed on top of the coil, and a pointed rod attached to my ground rod. Between runs I inched the electrodes apart until the streamers were only just connecting. I measured the distance as 44cm (17.5"). I tried retuning but there was no more power. The theoretical maximum for this coil is around 24" so I still have a way to go. The photo below was a 4 second time exposure, during which it connected exactly once.
